As we Celebrate Women's History month, we are struck by all of the diligent women who farm, live close to the land, and share their bounty with the community. The above photo features Natalie Foster, who owns Cornerstone Garlic Farm with her husband Steve. While they are expanding their product line, Cornerstone Garlic Farm specializes in garlic and is one of the few North Carolina farms to offer seed garlic. Natalie is busy talking to a customer at the Yanceyville Farmers' Market. She has spring onions, great powered garlic, herbs and spices. Additionally, she sells some of the most colorful eggs around.
While their farm is in Rockingham County, she travels to Greensboro faithfully every week to bring one of nature's healthiest foods to our table. Got garlic? If not, head on over to the Yanceyville Curb Market. If you are trying to live a zero-waste lifestyle, take your own contaners, especially cartons for eggs.
This is Women's History Month? Well, no wonder all those beautiful girls have been following me around! No, it's not what you think. It's that I'm so old that when I die whomever is nearby will get at least 15 minutes of fame!
I think I'd like Natalie. I know I'd like her eggs. I also like garlic. In small portions. She must have those funky, colorful chickens to make eggs like that!
