Going through our photo archives at GDP, we came across this photo taken late this past summer. There was an event at Revolution Mill and Cone Denim had a table set up, telling about their history and these unidentified women were selling t-shirts, left over from White Oak Mill's anniversary celebration a few years ago. Little did the community know that the mill was about to close its doors forever.
We're hoping somebody is doing a photo shoot inside the White Oak Mill before it gets dismantled, or changed into whatever it is going to become. If they are looking for photographers to take photos inside the White Oak Plant, please encourage them to contact Greensboro Daily Photo. We've had requests to share this giant piece of Greensboro's history with the community.
When we started Greensboro Daily Photo nine years ago, it wasn't our initial plan to photograph the changes in the community, but those changes have been coming fast and furiously. As for White Oak, it is hard to believe that memories, and silenced equipment are all we have left of an industry that was an integral part of Greensboro for over 100 years.
That is sad, a cornerstone of a community gone.

I'm at the age where I hate change; all kinds of change. Generally, change does not benefit the general population but the rich and powerful.
