Happy Fourth of July! Today is Greensboro's 44th Fun Fourth Celebration. The event takes place in downtown Greensboro all day, and is free and open to the public. Last year, over 100,000 were in attendance and even more are expected this year since the holiday is on a Wednesday and not part of a long weekend. Also, since the Community Swim Association will hold their end-of-season meet beginning on Thursday, the 2,000+ families involved in the swim event are still in town. That should add a few thousand more people attending the biggest Fourth of July event in all of North Carolina.
The day will be jam packed right down to the fireworks at dark. There will be a fireworks display downtown in the parking lot at East Market and Davie Streets and, after the Grasshoppers game ends, there will be fireworks at First National Bank Field.
