Pumpkin patches are in full swing in Greensboro. The above stand is the checkout counter at Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church. If Mt. Pisgah was not Greensboro's first pumpkin patch, it was one of the first. The church is known as "the pumpkin church." On a sunny day, those pumpkins glow on the corner of Pisgah Church Road and Battleground Avenue. You can spend all afternoon in the patch taking family photos and selecting the perfect pumpkins, while helping the church raise money for the church. The canopy, great advertising, is on loan from the George Brothers Funeral Home.
As seen in the above photo, the pumpkins range from $8 to $25. They also have mini-pumpkins for 50ยข. However, some of the real beauties on the grounds are the gourds which are only $3 each (see below). It was so fun hanging out in the pumpkin patch in the warmth of a glorious, fall day yesterday. And, seeing children with families making all of these special memories and photos, was priceless.
It certainly is that time of year. I find it curious, though; it must be an American thing. I've never seen churches here selling pumpkins.
