President Trump came to Greensboro last night. The above photo was taken at about 7:00 pm as he turned off of Cornwallis Drive onto Cleburne Street en route to the DeJoy home on Country Club Drive in Irving Park. The presidential limousine was one of many vehicles in the motorcade; police special operations vehicles, secret service cars, emergency vehicles, and other cars filed from the airport to the DeJoy residence so that the President could be in attendance for the GOP fundraiser. Entry level donations started at $2,700.
As we waited, there were families that brought their children so that they could remember forever the day they waited in the rain to get a glimpse of the President and to be part of the event. You can barely see the flag at the front of the Presidential limo. The weather was rainy and camera lenses were steaming up. Even the local newscasters were complaining of having difficulty getting good photos. It was exiting, however, to realize that we were less than a few feet from the President. While a great meal was being served a couple of blocks away, fans and protesters were left drenched. As the crowds dispersed, the rains slowed. Those who were returning in a couple of hours to see the President depart discussed bringing canopies. The crowd at Cornwallis had many Trump supporters. A few blocks away, opponents of Mr. Trump met to fundraise also. Such is the beauty of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
That man... just revolts me in a way very few people ever have. And I've felt that way long before he got into politics.
