Yesterday afternoon, if you happened to be outside around 5:00 p.m., you might have noticed those glorious skies in Greensboro. The above photo does not feature any noteworthy landmarks and you can't necessarily tell it was taken in Greensboro. However, the purple to blue to white sky as a backdrop to the orange and gold leaves was spectacular. As we walked along Mill Street, towards Kick Back Jacks and Starbucks, even without the best vantage point, it was as if the sky were glowing. Times like this, we pause, click, and appreciate the beauty around us.
When the drab, dark, gray days of winter are upon us, we are especially thankful to have enjoyed glorious days like yesterday. Living in a city with four distinct seasons, especially in one where the winters aren't too brutal, makes us ever grateful. North Carolina has about 655 species of trees, shrubs, and woody vines that contribute to a glorious leaf show in autumn.* But this time of year, it is hard to beat the colors of the majestic maple trees.
Wonderful fall colours!
