Happy Halloween! Every community has their "spirit" houses, with people who are known for holiday decorating. And, in the world of holiday decorating, most of us have a holiday that just stands out in our hearts. This weekend, we had the good fortune to meet up with a dear friend, and talented artist Beth Sykes Shaffer. She absolutely loves Halloween and part of that passion stems from her childhood memories of family vacations to the Beech Mountain Land of Oz Theme Park in North Carolina. Beth follows the yellow brick road and clicks those ruby slippers to any place she knows is selling Halloween decorations.
Beth loves the Wizard of Oz so much, she has named her business Emerald City Chimes and Jewelry. We'll feature Beth and her art in the very near future. For now, we're going to don our best Wicked Witch of the West costume and head out for a little Trick-or-Treat fun this evening. We hope the weather is agreeable and that Dorothy and her entourage find plenty of nice people like the Shaffers to greet them with candy and joy tonight. May we all enjoy Halloween, a holiday that marks the end of the harvest season and the start of the darker half of the year in the northern hemisphere.
The photo below features Beth, all smiles, because she knows we love Halloween (almost) as much as she does!
She's certainly decorated big time for the day!
