Greensboro and Guilford County are known for having horses. We are one of the State's counties with the most horses. The above photo was taken just outside Greensboro, near Oak Ridge, on a farm where they have miniature horses, at Westergaard Kennels and Dog Boarding. In addition to raising golden retrievers and boarding dogs, the kennel also raises miniature horses on their 15 acres.
It is hard to tell the above horses are not full sized, as there is nothing to reference, other than the fact they are shorter than the fence. They are usually about 3 feet tall or less. Miniature horses can live up to about 35 years; so, if you get one, you are committing to a pet that will span generations. Miniature horses tend to be friendly and interact well with people. The photo below features one that really tried to befriend us.
What pretty little ones!
