The above photo was taken on Pleasant Ridge Road just as you cross over Highway 68. This part of Pleasant Ridge parallels the northwest section of the Greensboro bypass that crosses just south of here. About fifteen years ago, this area seemed like a rural, country scene. Today, a 360 degree view here would show you a very different scene. For now, we'll focus on that which is ahead, the Pleasant Ridge Golf Course.
In spite of all the construction and changes, the Pleasant Ridge course is still 18-hole. It is open to the public and a great place to practice your putting on a sunny, Greensboro afternoon. There are four sets of tees for different skill levels. The course has been open since 1969. In two more years, they will celebrate their 50th anniversary. Here's to another 50 more! Here's to enjoying summer drives to parts of town not part of your beaten path.
It wouldn't be out of place here, this scene.
