When you think of Greensboro, and the Hamilton Lakes neighborhood, mid-century modern is not the first house style to come to mind. However, one of the great aspects of the older, more established neighborhoods of Greensboro is the fact that they are diverse. The above home is located on Kemp Road West. If you know the area well, you will know that there also a housa there there that could pass for a castle.* As with the other homes in the Hamilton Lakes neighborhood, the above home is well-appointed on a lovely lot.
The house was built in the 1950's, as were many of the homes in Hamilton Lakes, and it is almost 70 years old. It looks like it could have been built yesterday. Preservation Greensboro has a lovely article on Hamilton Lakes. If you want to know more about the neighborhood, especially its history and the diversity of the houses, see here. In the meantime, enjoy the closeup of the entrance below. If you are looking for an accent color for your home, consider turquoise!
* Here is a link to the house that we featured in 2011. It is so big and wooded that only part is visible at a time!
It certainly does evoke that era.
