Kepley's Bar-B-Q has been a High Point institution since 1948. It originally opened in a World War II quonset hut in High Point. Today, the above location, a square and more conventional building, is thriving at 1304 North Main Street in High Point. Formerly, there was a Kepley's location on Highway 68 in a barn; however, the barn was not replaced when it burned in 2001. Kepley's is known for its vinegar based Bar-B-Q, slow cooked pork, and personal service.
Greensboro also has great Bar-B-Q restaurants; however, it is fun to drive around the county (and the State) trying out different styles. The different establishments, even within Guilford County, develop a reputation for not only their Bar-B-Q style, but also their coleslaw and hush puppy recipes. As you can see from the photo below, the signage is interesting, too. If you are looking for ideas for summer fun, consider traveling the State trying and rating locally owned Bar-B-Q restaurants. Here is a sample evaluation sheet- the rating system consists of taste, tenderness, appearance. High Point is a mere 16 miles from from Greensboro. Visit Kepley's if you get a chance. Look for the neon-outlined, red, hog sign.
That sounds tempting!
