Happy Halloween. Are you trick/trunk-or-treated out? Or, will you be heading out for more candy this evening? Traditional Guilford County Schools are off today. So, after a 3-day weekend of Halloween and candy, students will probably be exhausted tomorrow.
This past weekend, we had the great opportunity to attend the "Keep It Local" show hosted by Leanne Pizio on her property is Oak Ridge. Leanne and her vendor friends had many beautiful items for sale. The weather was glorious and the art sparkled in the autumn sunshine. The above photo features two of Leanne's pottery pieces and one of her colorful skull paintings. Just seeing Leanne's artwork, especially the sgraffito pottery will make you smile. Leanne hails from Burlington, NC but has lived in Guilford County for at least two decades. On their format, she and her husband tend quite a menagerie of sweet animals, often the inspiration for her artwork.
If you are interested in purchasing pottery or keeping up with Leanne's bi-annual, spring/fall, "Keep It Local" events. you can contact her directly through Facebook. Here is a 2013 photo of our Halloween decorations with Leanne's pottery skull and John Malpass' claw-hand bowl (here). When you have great artists like these, there is never any reason to purchase mass-produced decorations at the big box stores.
Check back this week, we'll share more of Leanne's artists this week on Greensboro Daily Photo.
Neat Hallowe'en decor!
