If you have been downtown lately near the baseball park on Eugene Street, you know that construction in the area is well beyond the above view. If the project is still on target, Carroll at Bellemeade Village should be finished in about a year. The $60 million dollar hotel and upscale apartment site may end up being even bigger than anticipated. Developer Roy Carroll is hoping to add a skyscraper on the area that would be the largest skyscraper in the state outside of Charlotte. His plan calls for the proposed building to be a 400,000 ft.
It is hard to imagine a Greensboro skyline where the Jefferson Pilot Building is dwarfed.* While this information has been available for several months now, it wasn't until we started preparing this post that we realized the magnitude of the changes in store for downtown Greensboro. It sounds like if you want to move downtown, now is the time to do it. Perhaps we can convince Mr. Carroll to open a retirement community on site.

That sounds like a lot of work.
