Last night, West Elm opened in Friendly Center with a well-orchestrated Grand Opening Party. In the above photo, we see the staff getting their last-minute briefing just before doors opened to the public. The store sent out invitations to the event, but walk-ins were also welcomed at the door. Light refreshments were served and customers sat around on the furniture chatting with each other and sales associates almost as if they were in their own homes. The atmosphere was upbeat and fun; sales associates were professionally personable.
West Elm, a branch of Williams-Sonoma, Inc., began in Brooklyn in 2002. They understand that today's consumers want to know the stories behind the products they bring into their home, and they want the products to represent not only their personal style, but also their beliefs and values. To that end, West Elm offers a selection of artwork by North Carolina artists and most of their home furnishings and accessories are organic, hand crafted, sustainably-sourced and fair trade.*
Welcome to West Friendly, West Elm!
