Dale Watson and his band gave a great performance at the Carolina Theatre on Wednesday night. Dale has mastered that famous Texas outlaw music and has been inducted in the Austin Music Hall of fame. He sounds like Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson with a touch of Johnny Cash, George Jones, and Merle Haggard. Dale has coined a genre of music, Ameripolitan.* At Wednesday's concert, he was accompanied by a bass, drum, and pedal-steel player (Chris Crepps, Mike Bernal, and Don Pawlak, respectively) with a female singer who came out to treat the audience to a couple of duets.
Dale gives concerts worldwide, playing as many as 300 shows a year. Last year, Greensboro was treated to his great musicianship during the National Folk Festival. This year, he is with us as part of the 17 Days Series. We hope he will return to Greensboro soon!
We hope you gfaet out and enjoy some live music this weekend. One great event that comes to mind is the Laurelyn Dossett and Friends Concert at Doodad Farm in Southeast Guilford County tomorrow. Happy Friday.
