Happy autumn! This early fall weekend there were many great events held in Greensboro. One such event was the Asian Autumn Festival, held on the UNCG campus. Different groups from the community, was well as UNCG affiliated groups, participated in this community outreach event. The International Global Studies Program, under the direction of Dr. Roberto Campo, spearheaded the event. Between food sampling, origami making, learning basic words in Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Korean, and more, we had a chance to talk to many of the performers.
The above group is a Korean Folk Ensemble dancing and playing percussion instruments. They explained that Koreans honor the farmers and the importance of their traditional agricultural heritage. The Korean community was well represented at Saturday's festival. In the above photo, we met up with the Korean folk group just as they were about to perform when they were serious and focused. The photo below shows the demeanor of the individual performers when they had time to talk. We love her peace sign! Greensboro is so lucky to have all of these events to help us appreciate the rich diversity of our community.
They look quite serious!
