This is scene on South Elm Street was so precious to us. The adults were walking along the brick sidewalk looking at the newspaper choices; mostly community-based, free papers. There are also three historic markers to read along this brick road.
Meanwhile the young boy was holding his ears because the train horn was so loud. If you look in the background, you can see the train cars moving along the train trestle. Right at this point, an old tree was chopped down last week and a new one has been replanted in its place. The scene looks like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting- for sure, a scene from a bygone era. Greensboro has a reputation for being a modern community with a yesteryear look.
We hope you are enjoying December and that you are finding time to explore all that Greensboro has to offer. Perhaps this family is walking to the skating rink that is now located in the parking lot off of Barnhart Street, less than a block from this scene. Happy Tuesday, dear readers.
I love your calling G'boro a "modern community with a yesteryear look." That fits us nicely.
