Isabella is an amazing young lady whose trusty eclectus parrot, Turtlepear, is never far from her side. Turtlepear spends hours watching Isabella play sports with her siblings and neighbors. When Isabella is home, whether studying, painting, doing chores, or simply hanging out, you can bet he is out of the cage with her. Isabella is not only a responsible pet owner, she is a well-rounded person actively engaged in the Greensboro community. She is a great student, athlete, visual artist, and performing artist. This past year, she made her acting debut with the Community Theatre of Greensboro. One of Isabella's favorite community-oriented projects is Backpack Beginnings, where she volunteers on a regular basis. Each week, over 1,600 Guilford County children take home food from the pantry of Backpack Beginnings. Isabella arrives 30 minutes early and works as needed, including briefing volunteers, and staying to help clean up.
Thanks to the Spanish Immersion Program in the Guilford County Schools, Isabella is very proficient in Spanish. Last summer, she participated in a mission trip to Guatemala. She and four other American students visited five Guatemalan schools and made presentations (in Spanish), sharing information about the United States, North Carolina, Greensboro and life in general for American teens. When asked how she plans to spend next summer, Isabella smiled and said she hopes to finish the novel she is writing. She has completed two chapters and already has an editor. Since she is an artist, Isabella plans to illustrate the book herself. Maybe she will write a Spanish version as well!
Today is ABC Wednesday and "I" is for Isabella, and Turtlepear approves of this interview! See the A-H interviews in this series, here.
Goodafternoon ...
Children should grow up with animals, and learn to respect that form of life.... i tink that is very important.
Wonderful entry for the I.
Have a nice day

I feel very lazy compared to Isabella. Where does she find the time to do all these things? Good on her though!

What a special young lady! I had the privilege of being her AG teacher in elementary school. She was an inspiration as a 3rd-5th grader. I'm so happy to see her succeeding in middle school.
