The Bennett water tower is highly visible from Elm Street in downtown Greensboro. There are times when the sun casts a magical glow on the photogenic structure. From the parking lot of Cheesecake by Alex there is a very clear view. The view is so good from that vantage point that last year, during the 17 Days Festival, art was projected onto the tower, making it a giant, cylindrical projector screen. Those interested had the opportunity to learn to use the Aps from that larger-than-life projection project (more, here).
We've always wondered where "Ground Zero" is for the tower. On a recent adventure downtown, we drove until we saw where the tower is installed. It is located at McAdoo Avenue and Victor Place. This beacon over Murrow Boulevard is very near Bennett College on the East Side of town. Perhaps this is a silly post; however, part of the fun of Greensboro Daily Photo is 1) meeting great people and 2) uncovering new places. We never tire of learning more about Greensboro!
There was a similar one in the town near where I grew up. You could see it from a long way off.
