There has been a lot of roadwork on Battleground Avenue. Between its being widened, near Bur-Mil Park and on into Summerfield, and all of the businesses being built between Battleground's split at Benjamin Parkway on up to Pisgah Church Road, Battleground is transforming before our eyes. Thirty of the parcels ( totaling nearly 800,000 square feet, at a value of over 33 million dollars) belong to Marty Kotis (reference). If you have not driven the length of Battleground lately, you will not recognize it. The above construction, at Battleground and Horse Pen Creek, must surely be related to capacity building and infrastructure.
It is fun to pull off to the side of the road and watch, from the building of the Kotis properties to the making of the highway changes to the addition of the urban loop. This is not your grandpa's Battleground. Battleground is the 21st century Wendover, which was the 20th century Bessemer/Summit Avenues. Can you predict the next growth area? What would you like to see for Greensboro?
Infrastructure replacement on roads can be a headache- and for quite awhile, too.
