Last Sunday, we featured the street view of construction on Old Asheboro's Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, which does not capture the scope of the multi-million dollar project. Above, you see the East Bragg Street side, the back of the building. From here, it is clear that the new facility has the potential to be the heart of the community with plenty of space for all who want to attend. It also paints a clearer picture of the fact that the 29,000 square ft. structure will be built on five acres of land. It is so much fun charting the progress. We can't wait to see it finished.
Reverend William Frank Wright, Jr. has been pastoring New Zion Missionary Baptist, in its present location, since 1980. His congregation is extremely active in everything from Bible study to community outreach and helping families in need. Their next event is this week on August 4th, National Night Out. This Tuesday, they will mobilize and celebrate from Nettie Coad Apartments at 503 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, from 6:00- 8:00pm. If you are out on National Night Out, stop by and say hello!
See last week's photo of the front of New Zion, here.
It looks like a lot of work has yet to be done.
