Greensboro loves its bicycles and we're extending the greenways and making the community more bicycle friendly every year. The International City Daily Photo Group, of which Greensboro Daily Photo is a part, hosts a theme on the first day of every month. The August 2015 theme is bicycles. Last week, we accidentally published this photo, along with a second photo the same day. Not many people noticed this one. Our intent was to publish it on bicycle theme day. If you have seen it before, we apologize, but we hope you enjoy it.
In the above photo, a young person, who appeared to be about middle school age, was walking with his bicycle across Gorrell Street at Murrow Boulevard. While the photo was just taken last week, it looked like a scene from 60 plus years ago. There is nothing in the photo to indicate that it was taken in the 21st century. A child in a collared shirt with plain, black shorts, a simple bicycle, is walking past a bus stop and a fire hydrant, near a flat-roofed brick building. The street scene is hard to date. There were no earphones, cell phone, or ultra-fancy tennis shoes, which makes it even harder to believe that this is a current photo.
Sometimes, it is nice to put down the technology, grab your bike, and go rom Point A to Point B. We hope you have a chance to get out on a bicycle and uncover some interesting scenes around the city. If you are one of GDP's visitors from the CDP portal, welcome!
Yuk! That sign reminds me that this hot stretch will not last forever.

It does have a drawn out of time feel to it. That road won't be icing over anytime soon!

Lovely shot. There's no doubt that everyone has to watch out for icy road.
