Today's photo is of Greensboro's Chamber of Commerce at 342 North Elm Street. The view is especially clear without any buildings to the right of it. Those of you with businesses will likely know all about the role of a chamber of commerce in a community. As explained on the website of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., they are the eyes and ears of businesses and they advocate for businesses and look out for their bottom line. They listen to needs, convey messages in the political arena and take action on legislative issues that impact business.*
Many of Greensboro's businesses, like the Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship and the Teacher Supply Warehouse, got their start through our own Chamber. Our Chamber was established in 1877 and was one of the first groups of its kind in North Carolina. If you log on to their website, you can track upcoming events. Ribbon cuttings, celebrating new businesses, are especially popular. If you own a small business, it sounds like a place you should know well. Happy Friday, whether you are a small business owner and/or frequenter!
*reference, here.
A very distinctive looking building. We have chambers of commerce here as well.
