The Sunday, early evening service at St. Pius X Catholic Church is extremely popular with young families. Through the outdoor intercom system, latecomers can hear the call to worship and the choir singing. With its location between Old and New Irving Park, as well as its K-8 school, St. Pius has always been an attractive option for Greensboro's Catholic families. The church and school are located on 14 acres at the northeast corner of North Elm Street and East Cornwallis Drive. Even with 1,100 seats and multiple services, St. Pius always draws quite a crowd.
According to their website, St. Pius has achieved over a million dollars in endowments. Over the years, they have been able to grow and rebuild to meet the needs of their congregation. The current facility was completed in 2010 and indeed, it is not only beautiful, but welcoming. In the above photo, we love the movement of the pious, contrasting with the still, anchored pillars.
Quite a pleasant looking entrance.
