If you've ever served jury duty, or had a need to be around the municipal buildings, you probably recognize Governmental Plaza in downtown Greensboro. The spacious place has nice plantings and interesting artwork like the Millennium Gate. The above gate has 106 icons, created by Jim Gallucci and 17 other artisans. You can see it at 220 South Greene Street and parking is fairly easy on the weekends when the municipal buildings are closed. The gate has quite a bit of detail and is very photogenic.
Born and educated in New York, sculptor Jim Gallucci has been in Greensboro since the 1970's and has quite a resume of sculptures in public spaces in North Carolina. Here is a photo of Jim from 2012. If the weather permits, this weekend, we hope you can get out and enjoy some of the art and art events happening in Greensboro.
Which one is Jim Galucci in the photo?

Sorry, Jane. The guy with the white hat, to the right of the photographer!
