The steeple of West Market Street United Methodist (WMUMC) is easy to overlook as the church itself is so beautiful. The above photo was taken a few summers ago from the top floor of the parking deck at the corner of Washington and Greene Streets. It is winter and the landscape looks so bland; however, the foilage in the above photo reminds us that Greensboro is actually a pretty green city. And, in a little over two months, the leaves will be budding out again. Do you think we will be spared inclement weather events this year?
The WMUMC building was constructed in 1893 and represents the Romanesque Revival style, which is modeled after medieval churches* While only a little bit of the building is peeking out above the parking deck, you can see the whole front of the building, here. If you are local, driving around downtown and looking at steeples would be a great Sunday afternoon activity.

The steeple stands out beautifully!

It would be interesting to view other steeples from such a vantage point.
