Today's feature on GDP is the ozone contact room at the Greensboro Science Center in the newly constructed Sciquarium wing. The science center, located on Lawndale Avenue, has become quite an interactive and educational science resource for the community. Gone are the days when all of the equipment is hidden away as the pipes, tanks, and equipment are part of the science and a great opportunity for teaching and learning.
Since ozone is a trioxygen molecule that is soluble in water, likely, the ozone equipment is related to aeration and water quality of the 23,000 square foot LEED designed aquarium.* The man (featured above) was working diligently, filling out a log book; and children were looking through the window, speculating on what he might have been doing. We're sure had someone asked, he would have explained. The Sciquarium offers so many special events throughout the day, such as shark feedings, otter enrichment, and a stingray talk.
