Thanksgiving week was glorious in Greensboro with great weather and bright skies. However, sometimes, the frenzy of entertaining, preparing the house and food, as well as highway time, can be exhausting. Getting caught up in Black Friday, Small-business Saturday, and Cyber-Monday, adds to the exhaustion. The size of Thursday's News & Record newspaper was proof positive that retail in Greensboro had much to offer.
After the frenzy of a holiday weekend, we like to take a Sunday drive to appreciate the beauty of rural Guilford County. The above photo was taken in Whitsett, along Crescent Road, between Burlington Road and Highway 61. The peacefulness of a post-Thanksgiving drive recalibrates the brain and brings us closer to nature.
Today is Giving Tuesday, where all are encouraged to practice philanthropy by supporting a cause. There are many great causes in Greensboro. From houses of worship to food pantries, to non-profit organizations, to individuals in need, there is much we can do. Take a drive, think long and hard about civic duty, and find some tangible way to support your community-- wherever you may be. Happy Giving Tuesday.
Indeed a lot to be thankful for here in beautiful Greensboro, NC!

I like the quiet ruralness of this shot, Janis.
