The above photo is a view of the final City Market of 2014, held last Thursday between Lewis and Barnhardt Streets. The photo was actually taken near the intersection of Spring Garden and Green Streets. It was a "Great Gatsby" moment of sorts, when we stood back admiring the beauty of our city at night. We felt proud to part of a community that has so many special events to celebrate local people and their small businesses. From food trucks to pottery to handmade soaps, many small businesses were represented at City Market this past season. And, on the last night, with the crisp fall air and the street lights glowing, the grand finale view was breathtaking.
In a lot of ways, Gatsby got it right. When you stand back and admire your community from afar you see things not always noticed close up. Lets all see what we can find to appreciate on this last weekend before Thanksgiving. Happy Saturday and Shabbat Shalom!
Nice shot, Janis! Our markets never go into the evening like that.
