Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) was nothing short of fun on Saturday at Acme Comics on Lawndale. We haven't seen the numbers for this year yet; however, last year, about 2,500 people attended the event at Acme comics. Acme anticipated they would be giving away 27,000 comics this year. By mid-day, the lines went from one end of the shopping center to the other and costumed patrons were having as much fun as the people who were hired for the event. Also, with Geeksboro coffee shop just a few doors down, people, young and old, were going back and forth between both places as Geeksboro had comic book artists and merchandise on hand, too.*
The nationwide event is celebrated on the first Saturday in May every year. So, if you missed FCBD this year, put it on your calendar, start brushing up on your action hero trivia, be on the lookout for a good costume and see you on May 3rd, in a year! As for us, we'll be on the lookout for the Green Lantern! Who is your favorite character?

We had the same general subject today! These costumers look good. We had a Cap at the shop I went to, and a Deadpool, though I didn't get a shot of the guy dressed like him. An interesting take on Luke Cage, and I needed a moment to realize the fourth guy is dressed as a member of the Court of Owls.
