This weekend, we spotted this 1966 blue convertible mustang in the Westerwood neighborhood. It was parked near spot #14, Michael Gleason's woodworking studio on Lakeview Drive. One street over, on Courtland Street, was retired-English-professor-turned-master-woodworker Kelley Griffin's woodworking studio. In all, fifteen artists opened their studios, homes, and hearts to the Greensboro community. It was the perfect weekend for wandering through the lovely homes of Westerwood's artists.* Greensboro has many fine "keep it local" events like this one.
You can never have too much original art in your house. Owning original, local art is a great way to connect to the community and its people. October is a great month for purchasing local art. This weekend is the Artstock Studio Tour (addresses here). On October 20th, the Yanceville/Greensboro Farmers Curb Market will host the 17th Annual Fall Pottery Festival and on October 26th, Leanne Pizio will feature a Keep It Local art show. The title of today's post is Art and Wheels in Westerwood. Maybe we should change that title to "art ON wheels." Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all had Carolina blue convertibles to drive around to see all of this great, local art!
