With so much darkness in the winter sky, we welcome the bright and colorful nativity scene on the lawn at Centenary Methodist Church on Friendly Avenue. Centenary UMC, as with all churches worldwide, are in the heart of the Advent season awaiting the magical moment of Christmas. Centenary UMC had its steeple toppled a few years ago in a storm. Today, the steeple is whole again; the church is offering contemporary and traditional services and they continue to be a hub of activity near Sunset Hills and Friendly Shopping Center.
With the winter solstice yesterday, we now enter the time with increasing light, which will give us more time to ride around and enjoy the beauty of Greensboro. Happy Sunday, dear readers, whether you are spending it with a faith community, family and friends, or alone. May the now-growing-longer days be everything you want them to be. And, if you are homebound, we've got five years of pictures of Greensboro you can peruse on this website.
