Tuesday, December 17 the moon was full and it lit the sky over Greensboro to the extent that you could have gone out dancing with your friends without any other light. It seemed like sunset as the moon was dipping below the horizon just after 6am. The above photo represents our effort to capture the moon.
The first time we featured a full moon on GCP, we had a great discussion with fellow Greensboro blogger, Preston Earle, whose blog was called "Sawdust for Brains." He spent a great deal of effort trying to help us understand how to photograph the moon. While we didn't quite follow all of the technical aspects of his tutorial, we can't point a camera towards the moon without thinking of him. Mr. Earle died on January 2nd, 2012 and we wonder if he is up there cheering on our efforts. As we approach Christmas, let us take a moment and remember those who aren't with us and find joy in the memories of good times with them. Two more days until the winter solstice and, before you know it, the days will be getting longer. As for the above photo, Mr. Earle, this one's for you!
Great photo. I tried to get a pix. Yours is beautiful

The clouds and trees add that little extra something to that beautiful moon.

Spectacular. Nice and moody. I can't take a moon shot to save my soul.
