The Grimsley High School drumline, Blue Steel, performed outside of Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Friendly Shopping Center last night. As always, the drumline sounded great and had fabulous showmanship. They are a diverse group of teens, brought together for the love of keeping the beat. While they were performing outside, parents were inside busily wrapping books and the Whirlie jazz band was setting up to entertain. On the next block, at Tex and Shirleys Restaurant, Grimsley's flute ensemble played. Whirlie families ate dinner with a part of the proceeds going to the school. Friendly Center is located in the Grimsley attendance zone so Whirles night is always well attended. All of these events represent countless hours of decication by students and teachers. It is so wonderful to see these truly community events. Here's to a giant drumroll for all who participated and watched!
So lovely that we're sharing it with the Weekend Reflection meme. Reflection is not the emphasis of this composition... but it is there.
Love the drums; and nice lighting in your photo.
