Keeping the blue theme going this week on GDP, we share a morning glory that wrapped its beautiful self around a boxwood bush in our front yard. The blue and steel gray colors remind us of the fact that soon, color will be draining from the Greensboro landscape. As winter approaches light and natural color become scarce. For now, we will enjoy the last few weeks of these flowers almost unraveling before our eyes. Morning glories have been used for everything from laxatives in China to an agent to vulcanize rubber in Mesoamerica.*
If you love morning glories, there is a morning glory farm in Monroe, NC that is just heavenly for photo opportunities and special events. There is a Morning Glory Cafe in Black Mountain, NC and a Morning Glory Inn in Clayton. One could traverse our state going from morning glory venue to venue. Morning Glory, the twisted little vine with its daily blooming beauty, is the title of an upcoming movie that will be showing at the Carousel Grande on Battleground. If only on the big screen, Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton will be treating us to a little entertainment this fall. Don your best morning-glory- blue outfit and take a special someone on a morning glory hunt by day and culminating with an evening at the movie. In the meantime, enjoy every day as it unfolds, uniquely.
