This weekend in Oak Ridge, just east of Oak Ridge Academy, on Highway 150, Leanne Pizio will be hosting the Keep It Local visual art event. She has hand selected twenty five great visual artists to share their artwork with the public. While the event starts at 10am, from 11-2, the artists will have an art hunt, where, with a minimum of 6 cans of food, you can participate in an Easter-egg-like hunt. The bounty will be little pieces of art hidden throughout the yard. In its 16th year, Keep It Local has grown into a fabulous opportunity for local artists and the community alike.
The above photo features one of Leanne's pottery skulls and a clawtooth pottery bowl by John Malpass. Together, their items make a great display for Halloween candy. Can you imagine being six years old and having to accept trick-or-treat candy from this set up? Actually, very little of the pottery is of this genre; however, to be sure, there is something for everybody at the Keep It Local event. Hope to see you there. Look for the pumpkin patch bus and the friendly llama and chickens. Oh, glorious Saturday!
