It was a glorious weekend in Greensboro. After the heavy rains on Friday, We had a nice weekend; warm sunny days with a hint of autumn in the crisp, clean, morning air. The above photo was taken on Burnt Poplar Road, parallel to I-40, out near the airport. That part of town has an interesting array of businesses. There are refueling stations, a waste facility, a police station, a company that sells school busses, and so many more businesses. Just past Galimore Dairy Road, this a little spot of vastness appears. It evokes the scene of driving on those long stretches to and from the North Carolina beaches. Long and desolate, until you hit a little pocket of congestion when you least expect it.
By the looks of traffic yesterday, many people were returning town to start the school year. And, today, on this Monday, the Guilford County Schools are back in session.Happy Monday. It is a full, first week of school. Let's hope that every lesson is a great one and that every student tries his/her hardest. Drive safely and watch out for school busses.
An FYI to anyone who has never been to the city's trash transfer station on Burnt Poplar to drop a load of trash. It's an indoor dump.
The stench is horrific and the floor is wet. The odor will get on your shoes and transfer into your vehicle's floor mats.
Last time we were there the odor stayed on the truck tires long enough to be noticeable by others when we arrived back at the house.
Next time we're putting newspaper down on the floorboard.
Have fun!

It's funny how you can start to see a change in the light this time of year. Starting Sept. 1 we start to get morning condensation on our cars.
