The International Prayer and Fasting Center (IHPF) is located just off Skeet Club Road, near Southwest High School. This institution traces its history back to 1982 and the days of Minister Otis Lockett's arrivel in Greensboro, NC. He was appointed pastor of Rescue Temple COGIC* which changed its name to Evangel Fellowship and grew and moved and grew and moved through the last two decades of the 20th century. By 2003, the congregation evolved and grew into the Power Center, a multi-purpose facility with an 1,8000 seat sanctuary. At the suggestion of Apostole Lockett, the above "International Prayer and Fasting Center" was built in High Point. According to their website, it is the first 24-hour prayer and fasting center on the East Coast. The facility has a 28 beds, a cafeteria, meeting rooms, a prayer center, and a fabulous panoramic view (read more here).
Mr. Lockett's family continues to play a leadership role in this facility. From humble little facilities on Dillard and Balboa Streets in Greensboro, IHPF seems like a place ripe for experiences like scenes from the book "Eat, Pray, Love" a sacred space for spiritual reflection and renewal- with or without food. Happy Sunday, dear readers!
