No matter where you live in the USA, nothing says back-to-school like high school football games. Greensboro is no exception. Above, we see a slice of the Grimsley/Southern High School football game, held at Jameson Stadium, between Benjamin Parkway and Westover Terrace. Grimeley won the non-conference, beginning-of-the-season game 34-0. Interim Coach Pat Neal has been doing an amazing job of knowing his team's strengths and weaknesses; likely, because he has been working with the Whirlies for the past eight years . He really knows his players.
The scent of popcorn filled the air and neon glow sticks were being tossed back and forth, while cheerleaders and student council memebers brought the crowd to life. Also enjoyable was the drumline's halftime show. A great blend of young men & women as well as an ethnically diverse group, the drumline played masterfully while dancing, jumping, hopping, and with some members even being held upside down. What a perfectly glorious Friday night, including the weather. If you have not been to a high school football game lately, consider rushing out to a high school located near you and enjoying a good old autumn tradition. Happy last day of August, dear readers.
Love this view of Friday night football. You captured a nice glow.
