Gate City Pharmacy is located in the middle of Friendly Center. They have been a Greensboro institution since 1967. Since their opening, Greensboro has seen a lot of mom-and-pop pharmacies go by the wayside as more and more people get prescriptions from the big box stores and even online. Service has helped Gate City Pharmacy remain in business for forty six years. They are known for compounding prescriptions. They make specialty topical preparations, hormone replacement therapies, veterinary compounds, liquid preparations, and other unique dosage forms.* Additionally, they are known for they way they work hard for their clients. They work diligently to contact doctors' offices to assist clients in getting prescription refills. They remember your name and your needs, are attentive and respect your confidentiality.
We overheard them at 8:50 tonight, talking about the fact that a woman was on her way for a prescription and that she might arrive a few minutes after closing time. She was out of her prescription. They waited. They really do go above and beyond for loyal (and even not so loyal) customers. They are the "Cheers" of pharmacies. Everybody knows your name; everybody knows what you want/needs. They are like the Charlie Brown comic strip. "Friendly advice. The adviser is in."
As seen above, their Friendly Center façade is one of the new ones. It is stunning, especially at night. Finally, the outside canopy may be new, but the inside is a hold-out of good-old-fashioned committment to customers.
Special place, special people we wouldn't want to do without. Hats off to our local pharmacy.
