Thursday nights is Volkswagen Night at Herbie's Place on Battleground Avenue. It is a great time to come and share car stories about vintage VWs, get parts, and learn about volkswagens. The Good Ole Volks Club of Greensboro (estblished 2000) is the group that organizes the event. They also organize road trips. The Volkswagen bug, a German innovation, has been around since 1938, so there is seventy-five years of information about the "people's car" out there to share. From the looks of the crowd last Thursday, the event is well attended. From the GDP photo four years ago, it appears that some of the same cars are attending.
It is so wonderful to find people who share your common interests. If you are local and love VW's, the Herbie's meet-up is for you. If you have other interests, it may just be up to you to start an interest group. If you do, let us know, and we'll try to get out to feature your group!
VW cruises are always fun and laid back events, nice people!
Word on the automotive grapevine is that Petersen's Museum will be auctioning the original Herbie The Love Bug in August.
