This Old Barn

This is the small, old barn that goes with the old house from Monday. It is a classic, North Carolina structure of yesteryear right here on North College Road. A  large apartment complex is in the backyard and commercial structures are found on the other three sides. However, for this little slice of land near Guilford College, time stands still. The white cat in front of the hedges seemed mighty proud of her abode. Perhaps she was on her way to look for a mouse or two. While this probably isn't a tobacco barn, it is an example of the old rural structures that are disappearing before our eyes. If you are interested, here is a preservation site about barns shared by the National Park Service. We are lucky to have so many barns in the Greensboro area. If you are nostalgic for North Carolina barns, there is a whole flickr group dedicated to them (here).

Tomorrow, the March 1 theme for the City Daily Photo community is cafe chairs. We're try to get out and feature some. At any rate, we'll have something for you tomorrow. G is for Golf

Golf is to Greensboro as basketball is to Chapel Hill. According to Golf Link, there are 33 golf courses within 20 miles of downtown Greensboro. One of the cover stories featured in the March 1960 Golf Digest was one entitled, North Carolina Wonderland of Golf." The first course in Greensboro opened in 1909 at the corner of Summit Avenue and Deway Street out near St. Leo's Hospital, ( reference). Since the early 1900's, Greensboro has contributed significantly to North Carolina's being associated with golf.

Today's post takes us to the Farm Course of the Greensboro Country Club at Carlson Farms off Carlson Dairy Road. This private course represents 18 holes with a par of 72 and over 7,376 yards, making it the longest in Greensboro. It was redesigned in 2013 and remains a beautiful, hilly course. We're using golf for our ABC Wednesday "G" entry. "G" is for "golf."  GDP's theme this round is GO GREEN.  (See our A-F GO GREEN entries here).

 In one way, golf courses are tied to the perception that a community is green. The courses provide lovely, open space that appear natural and are protected from commercial or residential development. Unfortunately, the un-green aspect of keeping golf courses green is their excessive use of water. On a positive, environmental note, the US Golf Association is keenly aware of this issue and is making an effort to decrease water use to irrigate golf courses (read here).

North Carolina Basketball

Today, we're going to cheat a little bit and take you 50.3 miles, mostly east and slightly south, from Greensboro to Chapel Hill. This past Saturday, NC State came to the Dean Smith Center to challenge UNC-Chapel Hill to a game of basketball. Earlier in the season, NC State won the first game. This weekend, UNC, "Carolina" won in a game that was tied several times throughout. The above photo shows the "Dean Dome" awash in a sea of Carolina blue. Greensboro's own power forward P.J. Hairston (Dudley High School) is one a sophomore starter for UNC, and he had a great game Saturday, helping lead the Tarheels to victory.

While we don't have our own ACC team, Greensboro is proud of the fact that the Atlantic Coast Conference Headquarters is located here, as is the ACC Museum. From March 14th-17th, we will host the ACC Tournament, right here in the Greensboro Coliseum. From Duke to Wake Forest to UNC to NC State, we have fabulous college basketball in our neck of the woods. And for four days in March, the games will be as good as they get. Hope to see you there! 

This Old House

This house is located in the 500 block of North College Road, across from Cheryl David's law office. It is amazing how rural this property looks, a main house with two outbuildings, considering it is so near Quaker Village and all of the professional offices in the neighborhood. This photo was taken in an asphalt parking lot of an office building looking onto the property. It is just down the road from Guilford College and, as the crow flies is not much more than a mile from Coble Farm on West Friendly.  We imagine the neighborhood looked a lot more like the scene above as recently as thirty years ago. Now, the road from Friendly to West Market street is slowly becoming lot to lot retail and professional buildings. It would be nice to keep a homestead or two like this preserved in the area so that children could know the way their ancestors lived in rural America. Next time you drive down North College road, look for this place. It is perched on a hill, beyond a cement wall. It has a lovely front porch and nice gingerbread detailing. It is so cozy...... and within walking distance to practically everything!

WMSUMC Sanctuary

            Methodists have been holding meetings in Greensboro since the 1820's, but it wasn't until 1851 that a church referred to as the "West Market Street Methodist" was completed. In 1892, at the 300 block of West Market Street, the groundbreaking took place for the above sanctuary. Much history has transpired since these early years; churches have come and gone and merged. It was not until 1968 that the name West Market Street United Methodist Church was adopted. This name was adopted after the Methodist and the Evangelical United Bretheren Church merged. Greensboro's own Gayle Fripp is on the History Committee of WMUMC. If you are interested in a little more history, read the church's website here.

            The church is a downtown icon. The above photo is a view from the second floor looking down on the pews.  Three and a half years ago, we shared this view of the organ and pulpit (see here). This is a  church that has interesting history and architecture at just about every turn. They have a very moving collection of the Stations of the Cross and a very moving chapel. Finally, here is a view of the building itself. From the people to the childcare center to the community outreach to the services to the art and architecture, everything about this church is just beautiful.

On East Wendover

Today's photo is looking towards Wendover Avenue from Church Street at Bessemer. Just to the right is the bridge leading to the Aycock Historic District and Summit Avenue. To the left is the eastern edge of Fisher Park. In the background, you can see a professional medical building. This part of Church Street is filled with medical offices. This vantage point is at the crossroads of East Greensboro and the downtown area. Here is another view of the same area.

Bessemer used to be the gateway to Greensboro before Wendover was built. It is a lot of fun on the weekends to drive around these areas and see all of the growth and changes in the city. When the Office Depot opened a few years ago, the families in the Aycock Historic District were thrilled to see the lot being used for an office supply center. Gone With the Wind

For some reason, this photo of a desolate tree at Lake Higgins reminds us of a scene from Gone With the Wind.  It stands tall and alone on the horizon in the December sky, like something Scarlett O'Hara would fight to hold on to. It is hard to believe that spring will be here within a month and, before you know it, the trees will be putting on leaves.

Lake Higgins is a 226-acre municipal reservoir. The lake is one of a trio of water reservoirs: Lakes Higgins, Brandt, and Townsend. It is not always clear when you are leaving one lake and approaching another. They are located in the north end of the county. Fishing, kayaking, and hiking around the lakes are especially fun ways to exercise and enjoy our beautiful community. Since these next few months GDP is sharing posts of an environmental "Going Green" theme, this article about trees is especially appropriate. Please read a tree story,  here... a little sappy, but timely with Earth Day and Arbor Day coming up in April!

Warnersville Center

Today's photo was taken at Warnersville Recreation Center, 601 Doak Street, overlooking the community swimming pool. Pools always look so tired and desolate in the wintertime as we look at them, longing for the months when the water will be crystal clear and children will be splashing with delight. Almost everyone can remember where they were when they first learned to swim and we're betting that many children have learned to swim here.

Warnersville Center is located behind Jones Elementary School, in the heart of the Warnersville neighborhood. The center, maintained by the city, offers an afterschool program and many recreational opportunities for the community. Preservation Greensboro reminds us that Warnersville is a community with a deep history, yet they don't have many historic places. They also point out that Warnersville was Greensboro's first suburb when it was established in 1867. The historically African-American community got its start when local Quaker Missionary, Yardley Warner, purchased the land to be subdivided for African American families who had been freed from slavery. In 1965, this neighborhood became the first federally-funded urban renewal project in North Carolina. As African-American history month enters its last week this year, let's wish this historic, historically-black neighborhood a good rest-of-the-year, decade, century........

F is for Fresh Fish and Fresh Food

Greensboro is a great place to fish for bream. The above fish was hooked locally in a private pond, when the weather was a little warmer. Lakes and private ponds are filled with these edible panfish. Americans are trying harder and harder to eat local food and Greensboro is involved with that initiative. One way to eat local is to fish. Greensboro's Parks and Recreation Department is very involved with the Community Fishing Program. As one example, they deliver fish to lakes (read one example here).

Another way to help sustain our feed supply is by planting more edible landscaping (see here). We hope you are making some effort to eat fresh food. Today is ABC Wednesday and for our Go Green Greensboro series, we're saying F is for Fresh... fish and food! Let's all take one day a week and try to eat completely from food that is grown locally.

Man and Dog II en Route to Southside

Today we are on Greensboro's Southside neighborhood, walking down Martin Luther King Drive near South Elm Street. We are behind a responsible pet owner who not only has his dog on a leash, he also has a plastic bag, just in case..... As the man talks on the phone, the dog is obediently heeling and walking in step with his owner. If all the dogs were this obedient and all of the owners this responsible, Greensboro would be darn near perfect! 

The duo are headed in the direction of the horseshoe-shaped building that used to house the Vintage 301 Restaurant. The new restaurant in this spot is Dame's Chicken and Waffles. The parent location is in Durham, NC.  Read a little about their history, here. Their tag line is "almost famous." It might be nice to try the dish now. Who knows what will happen if Dame's becomes FAMOUS. As for Southside, with a new restaurant and a park in-process, this part of town seems to be generating interest again. Hopefully, they will have some venues for First Friday, on March the 1st.

Greensboro Music Company

The Greensboro Music Company, established in 1993,  is located at the corner of Paisley and Greene Streets.  The actual address is 500 North Greene Street. These days, small, one-story, houselike buildings are getting harder and harder to find downtown.  The architecture and the Carolina blue trim make the building memorable.  The Music Company specializes in buying, selling, and repairing musical instruments, amps, and just about anything that needs fixing.  Fisher Park Apartments and Orrell Designs are just a stone's throw away. The location is fabulous. The leafless tree on a cold winter day makes the seen look cold and desolate. Walk inside and the feeling is completely different.  Happy Monday! If you get a chance, drive around and see if you can find this building. Better yet, walk or bike.

Bethel Presbyterian...the Sanctuary

Today, we take you inside Bethel Presbyterian Church. The church is located in McCleansville in Eastern Guilford County, just down the street from Eastern High School. It was established in 1812 a few miles away and first called Cedar Creek. In 1815, the congregation moved the church to the current location and the name was changed to Bethel. Bethel means 'House of God' in Hebrew. We have featured this church on Greensboro Daily Photo several times before (here, here, and here); however, never the sanctuary. Without people, the Bethel sanctuary is such a quiet and peaceful space. With people, it is warm, vibrant and inviting. Either way, sitting in the pews, one cannot help but ponder the people, events, and good deeds that have happened on this property over the last two centuries.

Child and Chihuahuas at Lake Brandt

Lake Brandt is a great place to visit on the weekends. It is an 815 acre municipal reservoir, built in 1925 and named for Leon Brandt, Mayor of Greensboro from 1907-1908. The lake, a fabulous recreational facility, is open from 8am-5pm this weekend. If you want to get out and hike, kayak, or walk your dogs, it is just a few miles north of town.  Water sports are fairly dormant this time of year, however, before you know it, Lake Brant will be offering youth kayak certification classes, having bass tournaments, kayaking classes, rowing practices and more (see here).

The responsible pet owner, above, has her chihuahuas on a leash and, as you can see, they were very tolerant of the young child with a stick. Actually, he was playing very nicely with the dogs. Chihuahuas seem to be gathering a little bit of celebrity status in Greensboro. This one likes to wear costumes and this one likes to sell costume jewelry. The ones in the above photo were perfectly content to sport nothing more than their beautiful fur coats and to hang out at the lake and marvel at the little child in stripes.

 

Center for Creative Leadership

The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) was founded in 1970 by C. Smith Richardson, son of Lunsford Richardson who was the founder of Vick Chemical Company. It is located on North Battleground Avenue, Highway 220, just north of Bur-Mil Park. The CCL is an organization that addresses leadership capabilities of individuals and organizations. CCL offers leadership solutions from North America to Europe, Russia, and Asia. 

One of CCL's efforts is to help leaders and organizations create new knowledge, a crucial skill for navigating the 21st century. Their non-profit status allows them to be objective because they don't represent corporate private interests. How wonderful that we have this international resource, quietly changing the way we understand leadership, right here in our back yard. Just think, we owe it all to a family that gained international attention with a mentholated salve that has been bringing relief from congestion and illness since 1905.

Greensboro's CCL campus is really hard to photograph as much of it is hidden in a natural setting. Before Greensboro's urban sprawl, CCL seemed to be in the middle of "nowhere." (Take a virtual tour, here). Now, it just beyond the northern tip of town.

 

 

Happy Valentine's Day

Today, we want to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day. Children at school will have trouble containing themselves over the thought of chocolate and candies. Some schools and businesses offer singing valentines for fundraisers. We hope you have a chance to bestow love and appreciation on someone and that you find a little indication that you, too, are loved. The above Greensboro home is featuring a milk  and cherry red glass for a visual valentine treat.

Greensboro has so many great restaurants, consider treating someone to a favorite meal. We stopped by the Greensboro Convention and Visitors Bureau and look at what all they have to offer (here). According to their website, Greensboro has over 500 restaurants. Let's see, at one a day... over a year and a half without having to cook dinner. Now THAT would be a good Valentine's Day gift.

E is for Education and the Environment

This weekend, we were at Bur-Mil Park and stopped by the Frank A. Sharpe, Jr. Wildlife Education Center. It is conveniently located on the edge of the greenway and along the birding trail. The center is a great place to step in out of the elements- not to mention a place to get a drink of water and use the bathroom. In addition to being a great rest stop, they offer wildlife education programs for people of all ages. Two free classes, particularly relevant to this post, are Growing the Green Way and Living the Wildlife.

The renovated barn, that houses the above education center, was originally owned by Julius W. Cone and was known as the Owl's Roost Farm and Poker Club (reference). Julius was the brother of Clarabel and Etta Cone and son of Herman and Helen Cone. His stepdaughter's husband was local architect Edward Loewenstein. So, yet again, a facet of Greensboro's history takes us back to the prominent Cone family.

If you get a chance, stop by Bur-Mil's Wildlife Education Center. It is a fine example of a free, resource available to all. Today is ABC Wednesday and for our GO GREEN Greensboro, "E" is for 'Education and the Environment'.

Pearl of Equality on Hamburger Square

Greensboro has 8 coffee-cup sculptures to honor the Greensboro Sit-ins. The art project was a collaborative effort between The United Arts Council, The International Civil Rights Center and Museum, and Action Greensboro's synerG Group. Each sculpture has a quote that demonstrates the courage of the four men who sat at the Woolworth lunch counter in 1960, starting the sit in's.

The cup photographed above, called 'Pearl of Equality' by Timothy Daniel, is located on Hamburger Square near Natty Greene's. You can enlarge the photo to read the Margaret Mead quote. We want to share Daniel's quote about the meaning behind his sculpture. "The idea of the sharp, stony oyster guarding its precious treasure came to me almost immediately to symbolize the whole 'Eye on the Prize' feeling on the civil rights struggle. The oyster's shell would represent the old status quo, and the flesh and pearl would represent the wonderful bounty awaiting those persistent enough to seek it."

Here is a map for a walking tour of all the cups. It is also the reference for the quote. Pearl of Equality is #3 on the walking tour. The photo was taken last spring, so, if you head down to see it, the trees are not yet budding!

Man and Dog

For many, weekends around Greensboro are dog-walking-adventure time. Above, a man walks his Weimaraner on the Westover Terrace side of Grimsley High School. These dogs, often described as mouse-gray, were bread for hunting in the early 19th century. Greensboro is a dog-friendly city. We have the Bark Park at Country Park where dogs can play off-leash. Additionall, our greenway trails are a great place to walk with leashed dogs. If you are local and in need of a canine companion, the Guilford County Animal Shelter is a fabulous place to start.... and finish! When we checked yesterday, they had fifty-five dogs, forty-seven cats, and two adorable bunnies; all are looking for forever homes. Based on the enjoyment the man in the above photo exuded while playing with his canine, the Weimaraner, indeed, has his forever home!

Fairview Baptist Church

Here we see Fairview Baptist Church at 2319 Yanceville Street on the East Side of Greensboro. It is located in the Cone Mills community, not too far from Billy "Crash" Craddock Brigde and 16th Street. There doesn't appear to be anything about this church on the Internet. It is hard to believe, in this day and age, that a church can survive/thrive without visibility on the Internet. Perhaps a young student could take this on as a service learning project. The church and its grounds are always well groomed, and obviously well loved. The white façade pops, seeming out of nowhere, as you drive past it. 

In the early 1900's, Cone Mills built five self contained villages. These villages contained houses, schools, churches, recreation facilities, parks, company stores and so much more.  At their peak, the villages covered 450 acres with about 1,500 houses and over 2,600 people. (reference, here). If Fairview Baptist were built back at the beginning of the 20th century, it would have been part of the mill villages. For now, until we can learn more about the church's history, we'll have to settle for watching it remain majestically unchanged as the trees around it adapt to each season. With Catholics gearing up for Ash Wednesday this week, Fairview Baptist will be content to usher in the Lenten season with a little less fanfare.

Cows and Rural Guilford County

The above photo was taken last weekend on property located between Carlson Dairy and Pleasant Ridge Road. The cows seemed to be enjoying the sunny day as much as the humans were. Guilford County still has some farms remaining. It is nice on the weekends to drive around and look at them, to show children animals in real life. 

We don't know if these are dairy cows but they got us thinking about cow trivia. Dairy cows drink 35 gallons of water a day and produce 7 gallons of milk. Milk is 87% water so it can quench thirst. There are 11 million milk cows in the USA. On average, cows live to be 20 years old (unless they suffer an untimely death). As of 2009, cows have had a fully-mapped genome. Here's to a great weeken where everyone takes time to stop and interact with nature... and livestock........and be thankful that we are not snowed under!

Listening for the Crack of Dawn

Sunrise was so beautiful on North Battleground this week, we had to pull off the road and snap a photo. The sky was only this intense for a brief minute before the color faded and everything turned gray-white. We couldn't help but think of North Carolina storyteller, Donald Davis who has a story called, "Listening for the Crack of Dawn." We just sat there in a parking lot, marveling and listening for the "crack" of dawn to happen. All we heard was an ambulance which broke the magic  and promptly snapped us back to reality. Off to our respective jobs we drove.

Davis tells the stories of his childhood,  the ones handed down to him from his grandmother. Before becoming a professional storyteller, he was a Methodist minister in High Point for over twenty years. So, while he wasn't in Greensboro proper, he was in Guilford County. Imagine having a master storyteller as a preacher. Sleeping through his sermons would be impossible. Now that we think about, his stories, much more powerful when heard than read, have the structure of a sermon. We've had some technology glitches this week  (one of which was that it would take 789 more hours to transfer our digital photos to an external hard drive and that the interaction couldn't be interrupted). Today is Friday and, this weekend, we're not going to do much more than listen for the crack of dawn!

Cone Sisters

The Cone Sisters of Baltimore, with significant ties to Greensboro, have been in the news a great deal lately. Clarabel (1864-1929) and Etta (1870- 1949) amassed a highly-regarded collection of modern art in their lifetime. While they collected separately, together, they had over 500 works by Matisse and over 3,000 pieces in all. The Nasher Museum at Duke has an exhibit of their collection. Locally, the Weatherspoon currently has a room of their collection on exhibit and the Weatherspoon, located at the corner of Tate and Spring Garden Streets, is free. It is only on display at the Weatherspoon until February 17th, so, if you haven't seen it, call a friend and head over.

No, today's photo is not one of their paintings! It is a painting of the generations of Cones dating back to the parents of Clarabel and Etta. Herman Cone came from Bavaria Germany to the United States in 1845. In 1856, he married Helen Gugenheimer.  Initially, they lived in Tennessee and then Maryland. Their eldest sons Moses and Ceasar relocated to Greensboro to establish a textile business. Herman and Helen are represented by the blue boxes in the middle of the above framed genealogy. Moses, Ceasar, Clarabel and Etta form part of the green oval surrounding their parents. Of those four children, only Ceasar had children. It is Ceasar's family who has this genealogy hanging at the Cemala Foundation in their office on Greene Street. The Cone Family has done so much for Greensboro, it is impossible to imagine our community without them.

D Is for Dirt

Last February, we featured this very plot of land as E for Environment on ABC Wednesday. This round, our Go Green Greensboro series, we're featuring the lot on the edge of Old Asheboro and next to Musicgarten as D for Dirt. The city lot, formerly a gas station on 1.3 acres of dirt at the corner of Lee and Arlington Streets, is about to become a park thanks to the Piedmont Land Conservancy. Last year, the land was in a "scruffy/limbo" state. Today, the natural setting park with a garden for children is about to become a reality. The fresh dirt above is the foundation for a great public space.

Kathy Treanor, Founder, Board of Advisors Member and first Executive Director of the Piedmont Land Conservancy, must be beaming. She has been working for years to see this conservation effort to fruition. Dirt may seem insignificant; however, clean dirt and good quality soil are paramount for producing good food. Dirt keeps humans connected to the earth. Dirt is an important habitat. Author Margaret Atwood says, "(i)n the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt." Well, soon, we will have a wonderful place in downtown Greensboro to allow our children to know what it is like to be clean, yet smell like dirt.

Blossoms When you Need Them

Just after Greensboro got that fabulous, Super Bowl sky, by Monday afternoon, the weather was soon dull and overcast. However, sleuthing across from Grimsley High School, we found what resembles  a Japanese Apple Bush. If it is, the plant is related to the rose and quince family. If not... well...  a little pink and green in the middle of the winter is enough to put a smile on anyone's face. It would be nice for Greensboro to have a botanical garden to enjoy on the cold, winter days. (An indoor one would be especially pleasant). 

If you like plant growing, conservation and seeing interesting flora, consider becoming involved at the North Carolina Zoo. Less than an hour south of Greensboro, you have a wealth of fabulous happenings in the plant world. There is also the  Bog Garden near Friendly Center. Other options include the  North Carolina Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill, the Grenesboro Arboretum and the Ciener Botanical Garden in nearby Kernersville. At the end of the day, if you haven't found any flowers and plants to enjoy in their natural setting,  you can always head to a grocery store and hang out in the floral section. Super Bowl Fun!

Yesterday, the gray skies parted and Greensboro got a healthy dose of winter sunshine and some of the prettiest clouds ever.  Cold, sunny, winter days can be glorious.

From the looks of the box store parking lots (like this one on North Battleground), it seemed as if all of Greensboro were out buying snacks for Superbowl parties. Whether your team won or lost last night- or you didn't watch at all- hopefully, you can appreciate one of the few instances of the Nation coming together to watch a show simultaneously.  As for the Superbowl.... well..... you know a TV event must be important if it gets the Downton Abbey crowd recording the episode! 

As for Super Bowl XLVII, it could have used a little of that sunshine during the power outage.

Daystar Church

Daystar Church, founded in 1997, is located at 908 Westover Terrace, directly across from Grimsley High School. The building is much larger than it appears when you walk around the perimeter. It has a huge children's area as well as a Sunday School rooms, offices, even a little detached community building behind the parking lot. Inside, the sanctuary looks more like a stage set than a pulpit. We featured this non-denominational church preveiously (here). However, it looks so different in the dead of winter. You can see from the playground on the left- a relatively new addition- that the church has a lot to offer children. It was so quiet yesterday afternoon when we took this photo; however, when services are in session, the building and parking lot come alive with people. We wish their website actually told who owned this contemporary, non-denominational facility or where their beliefs stem from; however, we do know that they offer a lot of meetings for members.

Henry Frye

As we enter the second day of African-American History Month, we feature Henry Frye. The above sign, placed at the southwest corner of South Elm Street and February One Place, is dedicated to the very accomplished Frye who, among other accomplishments, was the first African-American chief-justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. Frye, born a couple of counties away in Ellerbe, NC, is a 1953 graduate from Greensboro's NCA&T University. He has dedicated his career to civic involvement, politics, business, justice, and community. He is known for his efforts to get diverse groups of people involved in their respective communities. Frye, and his wife Shirley, are featured in Abe Jones Jr's. 1978 book , Greensboro 27.  In the book (p. 158), Dr. Frye is quoted as saying "... the real challenge to blacks and whites is to demonstrate that we can make the changes that need to be made through the political system."  It would be interesting to interview the Fryes and see how they think Greensboro has changed over their over six decades of involvement in our community.

February ONE

Today is a very important day: February One, the day the Sit-Ins were held in Greensboro in 1960. David Richmond, Franklin McCain, Jr., Ezell Blair, Jr. (now Jibreel Khazan), and Joseph McNeil headed over to the Woolworth's lunch counter on Elm Street and sat and waited to purchase a cup of coffee.  They were trying to get not only a cup of coffee but also some long-overdue equality. On this day in 2010, our city came together for the opening of the International Civil Rights Museum.

Today we feature the base of the February One statue on the campus of North Carolina A&T University. Previously, we have featured the front of the statue in all of its glory (here  and back,  here). This photo makes the already tall monument appear even taller. Recently many local high school students wrote essays about that they would sit in for. That is a great topic to contemplate. As we all remember this important day in the history of Civil Rights, let us ponder, just what would we be willing to sit in for?
