In 1871, James McNeil Whistler painted a photo of his mother, Anna McNeil Whistler. The iconic, Victorian painting is one of the most widely recognized by an American living outside the United States. We don't know if the woman in the above photo is the mother, grandmother, or both. Perhaps, she is a mentor and friend. To be sure, she looks like the kind of person who will listen. At this time of year, it is important for us to all have a kindered spirit to celebrate the good in our life and to help us through the struggles.
"Mrs. Whistler" is seated in Center City Park in downtown Greensboro. You might want to consider heading there today and skate. The ice skating rink is just waiting for some smiling faces (see here). Finally, if you want to see a photo of Whistler's painting, go here. Happy Thursday, everyone.
Delightful interpretation of your world.
