Piedmont Winterfest, outdoor skating in downtown Greensboro, is fun for young and old alike. Yesterday's below freezing temperatures made it seem especially appropriate to be downtown skating in our own little "Rockerfeller Center"- even if it is just temporary. If you are looking somthing family-oriented to do today, consider heading to the rink on Davie Street at Festival Park. The brighter the clothing you wear, the more fun you are guaranteed to have. As they say in the carols, "it's Christmastime in the city." Anytime you see families having this much fun and getting exercise at the same time, you know the event is a good one.
That reminds me of all the fun I had as a youth skating on frozen ponds, lakes and rinks. We had an outdoor rink here in Ocala, but it must have cost too much (our weather seldom approaches freezing) so the powers-that-be got rid of it. Too bad. The kids loved it.
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
