Inspired by style documenters like Scott Schuman, Tommy Ton, and GQ Magazine, Greensboro native Ernest Thompson started a men's fashion blog that he calls The Swagvation Army. Ernest is a lifelong resident of Greensboro and graduate of the Early College at Guilford. Currently, he attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he studies linguistics and Arabic. Living on a student's budget, Ernest combs thrift stores looking for quality clothing that has style, or as the younger generation says...... swag. After a trip to the dry cleaners or a spin in the washer, the clothing is ready to be modeled.
In addition to blogging, Ernest also plays banjo in a band (Campfires & Constellations), works part-time, and competes with Carolina's club Ultimate Frisbee team (Darkside), and spends a little time with his friends. We had the pleasure of taking photos of Ernest for his website while he was in Greensboro during spring break. It is heartwarming to know that the younger generation appreciates fashion beyond t-shirts, tennis shoes, and jeans!
Happy Monday folks. If you have time, click through to Ernest's website and give him a few words of encouragement, a retweet,or a pin.
