Old Greensborough

From the time of its founding in 1808, to 1895, Greensboro was spelled Greensborough. From the Revolutionary War era to the Civil War to The Textile Era to the Civil Rights Movement, to today, Greensboro has remained a city with great character. We owe much of the success and growth to our early Quaker founders, our many institutions of higher education, our Jewish community, our dynamic African American community and the way all interacted with the population-at-large. The expansive blue sky opens up over Old Greensboro at the corner of Lee and South Elm Streets. This is the southern entrance into our great, Gate City. Between the two traffic lights in the center, you can see the Jefferson Standard/Pilot/Lincoln Financial building peeking out. We've added it to Skywatch Friday. Have a great weekend, dear readers.
