From the parking lot in front of Barnes & Noble at Friendly Center, we snapped this photo of the O. Henry Hotel. Leaves have started to turn colors and should be at peek within the week in Greensboro. The red brick of the hotel looks majestic surrounded by fall foliage. While the original O.Henry Hotel (built in 1919) was torn down years ago, this 1998 iteration tries hard to provide guests with old-world charm. The O.Henry is committed to being as local and "in and of Greensboro" as possible. On the website, Dennis Quantance, says that our city is about: higher education; culture-- especially a great literary tradition; cooperation and collaboration between industry, government, and the community at large; its natural and man made beauty; and the interface between tradition and innovation.
Here is a photo of the hotel's entrance when we were en route for tea. We hope to get by the Wizzard of Oz tea to be held there on October 23rd. We're sharing this with Skywatch Friday and then heading out to find more photos of fall's splendor.
this makes a pretty picture! i'm hoping to get out this weekend and see all the fall colors...we've had boring rain all week ugh!

Do you think President Obama will stay here on Monday when he comes to town?

I love this photo. Having never approached the hotel from that direction, I had never noticed the name up above and the colors are wonderful.

Wonderful photo today,so evocative of Autumn!
The hotel is beautiful, the builders and architects did a fine job of "everything old is new again" styling. Brick building always look very inviting to me. If I ever go missing have all the brick buildings in a mile square area searched,I may mav been lured into one!
