For today's Sacred Sunday post, we call the above structure "House of God, Literally" because this church meets in what used to be a private residence on Horse Pen Creek Road near the Spears Y and down from Noble Academy. The simplicity of the white cross, above the peak of the roofline, sends a very clear message: Christians inside. This is the home of Northern Guilford Baptist Church with Pastor Brad Gaines. The marquee reads, "Jesus is Alive-- Get to Know Him.
As we google the church, we can't find any evidence that they have a website. Searches do, however, reveal obituaries of several members of the church who have died over the past year or so. Recently, they lost church member, Mrs. Trudy Mae Mabe Anderson. Hopefully, they are gaining young members to keep the church growing. In Greensboro, with our large Quaker population, we are accustomed to "meeting houses" and simple houses of worship. (We have our large ones, too). While, likely NGBC hopes to acquire a larger facility, for now, there is something tranquil about seeing the simple little Martha Stewart green church/house on Horse Pen Creek.
They've done a nice job of simply converting a house into a church!

Nice story.
I think the first Christians in Jerusalem met in houses, before there were churches.

I think this is better than churches that meet in the auditoriums of local schools. It looks like a nice place.
