Like father, like son... All is not buildings and crosses on Greensboro Daily Photo's Sunday religious posts. Today, we offer this photo of two of the many troops who were reading scripture during the pre-battle church service. Last Sunday morning, just before the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, reenacters were making ready. Others were meeting down by the river to pray.
The weather was beautiful and it was a peaceful lakeside sitting at the Sunday morning church service in Country Park at the encampment. While not quite from the same time period, the spiritual, "Down to the River to Pray" kept coming to mind as we listened. If you want to step out of the 18th century and hear the Alison Krauss version, see this video. The music and photos of actual baptisms are well worth viewing:
I like the people is period costume. Seems they were really smart dressers and somehow we, as a nation, got stuck in business wear.

Unusual images, both yours and in the video. I'm always fascinated to see river baptisms.

I see some shadows in your photo, so I'm sharing this ditty with you!
SHADOW SINGER
Of shadows an old man did sing;
He chanted in Guelph and Beijing;
The shade was his friend,
He loved it no end—
It made him feel rich as a king!

A great photo for Sacred Sunday! Very cool photo of father and son together in their magnificent uniforms! Have you noticed the "Scripture and a Snapshot" meme going on today?

Reading/watching psalms interpretations all over the CDP today I think again that all the problems my country has and had during last almost 90 years started when we became atheists, removed icons and changed them by Lenin's portraits. The nation which does not know about deadly sins on intuitive level is very damaged nation.
I do not want to sound too serious, so. Thank you so much for the comments! My project is Mosbuild huge trade exhibition (www.mosbuild.com) where I manage the stand construction activity and the preparation takes so much energy and attention from the blogging. And I miss blogging very much.
I listened to the song twice.
