Today is ABC Wednesday and "K" is for Kemp Road. Located in Hamilton Lakes and flanking Lake Euphemia, Kemp Road is really two roads: Kemp Road East and Kemp Road West, with 55 and 71 homes respectively. The property above, located at 302 Kemp Road West, backs up to Lake Euphemia. Today's featured property was built in the 1920's for Joseph Reece Morton, founder of Morton Chemical Company. Through several acquisitions, including one by Pfizer in 1957, Morton Chemical Company today is Greensboro's Morflex, Inc.
The Morton house, one of the early homes in Hamilton Lakes, blends Tudor Revival and French Eclectic styles (Fripp, Greensboro Neighborhoods, Volume II, 1998, p. 109). In recent years, and under new ownership, the house has been made significantly larger. When first built, Mrs. Morton developed elaborate, formal gardens on site. Even with the expansion of the house, the landscaping remains lovely. Below, see another view and more details of the roofline. Use the bay-window-birdhouse feature on the façade as a point of orientation between photos. Finally, Greensboro has 108 streets that start with the letter "K." Learn about Greensboro's A-J Streets here. See another house in Hamilton Lakes here.
I first thought the houses were in England, but lateron I noticed that they were not that old even if they were built in Tudor style! They are wonderful! I like such houses.
Thanks for your visit. No, I am sorry but I won't start a new blog, even if the new title of " Reader. Won't" is tempting(ha,ha...) ;)

That is a lovely house! I'd hate to be the one to clean it, though.

The house is very beautiful and a great idea to use the name of a road for K.

A house of this size and design requires beautiful landscaping. So glad the garden wasn't sacrificed.
